INTRODUCTION
Department of Ophthalmology is well equipped to provide out-patient and in-patient services including emergency eye care. Ophthalmic surgeries and procedures are routinely performed at the Medical College and Hospital.

SURGERIES
• Cataract – Conventional Cataract Surgery and advanced cataract surgery with phacoemulsification +intraocular lens implantation
• Glaucoma - Trabeculectomy, Drainage implants
• Anterior Segment - Pterygium, Corneal tear repair, Dermoid, Tumors and mass excision with biopsy, Chalazion, Penetrating Keratoplasty
• Strabismus
• Oculoplasty – Lid repair, Tumours, Evisceration, Enucleation, Exenteration
• Lacrimal Sac – Dacryocystectomy, Dacryocystorhinostomy

PROCEDURES
• Computerised eye testing and glass prescription
• Foreign body removal
• Incision and drainage of Chalazion
• Fundus examination (Direct ophthalmoscope, Indirect ophthalmoscope , Slit lamp biomicroscopy)
• Biometry
• Tonometry (Schiotz, Goldmann Applanation tonometer)

FACILITIES
The Department holds various eye camps and participates in general health camps in vicinity. In the camps, ophthalmology O.P.D. is run, essential medications are provided and patients requiring surgeries are referred to the Medical College.
The Department is running Speciality clinics in Glaucoma, Paediatric Ophthalmology and Squint to manage patients needing specialized treatment.

1. Dr. Lipi Chakrabarty
• Best Paper as Single Author in Glaucoma Section (Dr. Anand Saxena Award) in Annual Chhattisgarh State Ophthalmology Conference 2019.
• Awarded for her scientific photograph at Annual All India Glaucoma Conference 2017.
• Certificate of outstanding contribution in 2017 for being reviewer of Saudi Journal Of Ophthalmology.
• Best paper in glaucoma session at Annual Chhattisgarh State Ophthalmology Conference (CSOS Conf) 2017 and 2011.
• Received Prof Syed Modasser Ali International Award at Bangladesh Community Ophthalmology Conference 2016.
• Best Glaucoma paper award at the Annual Glaucoma Conference 2013.
• Best poster at Asia-ARVO meet 2013.
• Glaucoma Quiz Winner at the Glaucoma Annual Conference 2012.
• Best Paper in Community Ophthalmology J.L. Arya award of CSOS Conf 2010.
• Panelist and Speaker in academic meets, instruction courses and surgical skill course, diagnostic wetlab, technical skill course faculty trainer at national conferences.

2. Dr. Swatishree Nayak
• Best paper award in 27th Annual Conference of Orissa State Ophthalmological Society (OSOCON-2011).
• Best paper award in 6th Eye India 2012 Conference and 3rd Annual Conference of ACOIN 2012.
